The Hard Things

“Take your son,” he said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” (Genesis 22:2 CSB)

We often struggle getting the easy things done for God. What happens when it comes time for us to do the hard things?

Hopefully, our faith will never be tested like Abraham’s. Hopefully we will never be put in a position to defend our faith with our lives. But that time may come. We know that scripture warns us of a time of greater and greater persecution for Christians. Some already endure this in other countries that are not sympathetic to the Christian message.

However, we need to test our minds and our resolve in the face of what ever might come our way. We want only for the good things, and there is nothing wrong with that. But when hard times of testing come our faith needs to stretch and grow with these events. Our faith needs to be strong enough to stand.

Then, when the hard things do come and we are being tested, we can call upon God to give us strength. We can prove to others that our faith is not simply a crutch to lean upon but a strong foundation our very lives are built upon.
