Unworthy

He proclaimed, “One who is more powerful than I am is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the strap of his sandals. (Mark 1:7 CSB)

John the Baptist had the right of it. He was one of the most renowned of prophets with a large following. However, his entire role was to point the way to Christ and as he did so he made way for Christ message.

What John stated is true today, we are not worthy to stoop down and untie Christ sandal. And yet, God has set us in a place of honor by sending His only son to save us from our sins.

In doing so we were given a lofty role in Christ kingdom. We were given the task to go and reach the entire world. So we must ask what are we doing to fulfill our role? Yes we are unworthy, but Christ’s sacrifice made us worthy and provided us a path to greater things in our lives.

Thus, while our works cannot save us, our faith should be being made manifest in our works. Not simply for our wellbeing but for the wellbeing of others through Christ message.
