Utterly Futile

64 So give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come, steal him, and tell the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” (Matthew 27:64 CSB)

Have you ever done something that afterward the result revealed you realized that it was all utterly futile. Not only had you made a mistake in what you were doing, but you see in hindsight that you were wrong from the start.

In today’s scripture this is exactly what was happening. More so, the last of the scripture is prophetic in nature. They had not just created a martyr, which they had done to prophets before, they had unleashed salvation.

And even when their plans had been laid totally to waste, proven an utterly futile failure, they did not relent. Pursuing the disciples relentlessly and trying to stop the wildfire they themselves ignited.

It is one thing to stay committed to a path another to foolishly pursue it at all cost. Yet we see this so very often. People who are simply unable to see the fallacy of their ways or thoughts. Now, this gets into a discussion of who’s view is the right one and truth seems to be one of todays most hotly debated topics.

But the truth of Christ is indisputable and this will be revealed and confirmed in the end.
