What Will Stand

6 Yes, a person goes about like a mere shadow.
Indeed, they rush around in vain,
gathering possessions
without knowing who will get them. (Psalms 39:6 CSB)

This single passage can completely sum up a life lived without God. Consider previous generations or even the last 50 years. How many of those people, now considered, are simply shadows who passed through this life? How many left a true legacy of significance and not just possessions to pass along to someone else.

What will stand for your life once you are gone?

If we are but collecting possessions that will need to be passed along, then we are missing out on the significance of life.

What we build into others lives is the true legacy we leave.

I think about the passing of many people and what became of their things. I think about them and look to see if there are lives that they touched in a positive way that will last forever.

While we may look to the spiritually well know, this can simply be the good mother and father who built a strong spiritual sense into their children. People who upheld scriptural beliefs and were strong prayer warriors. They touched others through the Spirit if not directly.

God provides many ways to allow our spiritual legacy to stand.

How much better this is than simply leaving a wealth of stuff to be given away.
