Backward

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3 CSB)

As I have said before, I write these every morning often for my own comfort. I am glad if the scripture or my words reach others, but I too am much in need of them.

Difficult times seem to often stack one upon the other. I am in one of those times where I have 5 or 6 very difficult and stressful situations stacked one upon the other. I too struggle with the idea of God the Father of mercies and all comfort at times like these.

But too I know that He has provided a way in the past and will yet again.

When we look at the Bible and the lives of those in it, everyone had their difficulties. My devotional this morning spoke of John the Baptist who wore a shirt of hair and was ultimately jailed and beheaded for what he preached.

So how do you go on when you are burdened with so many difficult weights to bear? You believe and you put one foot in front of the other. You reach out to those around you for support. You cry out to God. You stand. You look the enemy in the eye from the knees you have fallen on and you let him know that you are not beaten, but you are kneeling to pray.

And thought it might seem completely backward, you thank God for where you are and His mercy.
