28 And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right. 29 They are filled with all unrighteousness,[a] evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. (Romans 1:28-29 CSB)
I fear with all that this is where America is headed.
More and more we see the fulfillment of the scripture in that we now seem to call evil good and good evil. The more we take a moral stance the more we get shouted down. Tolerance has taken the place of true sensibility.
However, we also know from scripture how to combat this, as we have seen the Jewish nation go through this time and again. Our scripture even calls out how to change what is happening – we must think it worthwhile to acknowledge God so that He will deliver us from our corrupted minds.
This requires a turning away from sin that has become so pervasive in our lives. Sin that we see as nothing more than “just the way the world is.” Because if we allow the world to be as it is it will continue to corrupt us just as deeply as it does everyone else.
In short we must not let the enemy win even the small battles. Luckily, we know that Jesus has already won the war. But it is now up to us to take on the battle lines over the small and not so small skirmishes.
Please know that I do not write these lines as one who has over come the corruption, but as one who seeks to continue fighting the good fight.
