15 I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (John 17:15-16 CSB)
We were not placed here to simply exist within this world. In fact as we are not of this world there is a higher order we adhere to. That is to be in this world but not be of this world.
This may seem a difficult concept, but the meaning is clear. While God has us here we are to live lives based upon the higher standard and fight the enemy against his lower standard. Ours should not be a life of continual comfort, but one where we wage a loving war against the evils around us.
None of this makes us “better” than anyone else, it simply give us a higher standard to live to and scriptural guidance for comparison. We must strive to live above the sinful nature that is this world.
As such we must live an examined life. One where we invite instead of shun the Spirits involvement and discernment. Where we embrace Christ saving grace and we give thanks to God for His provision.
