Outcomes

22 But now, since you have been set free from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification—and the outcome is eternal life! 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:22-23 CSB)

We have been given a beautiful gift and have been freed from the bondage of sin.

Yet, why do we go back to it so frequently?

Our habits drive us more than our passions. Especially as we get older we become comfortable in the familiar. We become slaves to our habits. We hear the scripture but do not adhere to scriptural truth.

Each day we have the capacity for good or evil. This is especially true when we view evil as just bad behavior. But we do not want to look at our sinfulness as evil. Yet, that is what it is.

Moreover, we do not want to consider ourselves slaves to it, or really anything at all. Yet this is the case.

We should consider slavery to God a good thing and submission to His will the end goal in our lives.

Then we can keep ourselves from willful sin.
