9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. 10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another. (Romans 12:9-10 CSB)
There is much packed into these two simple lines of scripture for us to meditate upon. But let’s take the last line regarding taking the lead in honoring one another.
Especially needed today in our current crisis, the brothers and sisters around us need us to take the lead. Many are weary and bone tired from all that they have had to deal with during this pandemic.
But we are a brotherhood. One that especially is seen as taking the fore in matters of supporting and honoring one another.
We cannot sit idly by while so many suffer. We must be peace makers and upholders of each other. If we cannot do this simple thing within the church how can we possibly do so outside of it?
And remember, we were not given a spirit of timidity. We were meant to go out and show Christ love to others, honoring them and being there in times of need, inside and outside the church.
The church should have, by now, left the building!
