12 In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12 CSB)
While today’s scripture may seem a bit bleak, we must think about the first part of the scripture.
To “live a godly life in Christ Jesus” is our ultimate goal. Thus, that ultimate goal should be a key focus for exactly how we are living our lives. If we are then even when persecution comes our faith is strong and our direction is set. There is no ambiguity in life.
However, it is just such ambiguity in life that keeps us from living a godly life in Christ. We allow it to seep in and soon we are living a double life which cannot be considered a godly life. As such we find we are not facing any persecution because we are living to the worlds standards.
God wants for us a good life, but when life is good and we are facing no adversity, no uncomfortableness we have to ask ourselves are we living up to God’s standard?
