14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one as well as the other, … (Ecclesiastes 7:14a CSB)
So many today are dealing with the adversity of our times. The prosperity of our past seems to be gone and the road ahead may look quite dark.
I have talked recently to others about God giving us grace for 24 hours. This is not to say that His saving grace is not always there, but that our grace for living comes to us in 24 hour increments. Mainly, because that is about all the time we can see ahead, if even that. We are not guaranteed anything beyond the moment we are living in really.
I have to take some of my own medicine quite often as I say to you that I write these as much for me as you, possibly more.
We are in an unprecedented time and many of us are just getting by and I have never been an advocate of this type of thinking. If we are just getting by (surviving) we are not thriving. We are not living in God’s grace and trust. And again, I say this to myself as the chief among sinners.
So as I wake this morning and read the scriptures and write this devotional I am seeking that 24 hour grace. I am seeking for God to turn my vision from the regrets of the past or fears of the future to what He has given me in the present. If you join me in this prayer, know I am praying for you as well.
