Takes One to Know One

9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9 CSB)

I have heard it voiced many times that people do not come to church because it is full of hypocrites.

It is. And it is full of sinners too.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Matthew 7:3)

Hypocrisy comes in many forms but it all has one thing in common; it is its own keeper. We can rarely speak of another’s without, somewhere deep down, feeling a twinge of guilt for our own.

Takes one to know one, is not a child’s taunt in actuality, it is an acknowledgement.

Thus, before we begin to judge one another we might just want to consider the hypocrisy we hold ourselves.
