6 That night sleep escaped the king, so he ordered the book recording daily events to be brought and read to the king. (Ester 6:1 CSB)

If we read on we find out that the King found out about being saved from an assassian, then unknowingly foiled a murder plot and raised up the man who was to be killed. (Who says the Bible is not a good read!?)

But none of this would have happened had the king been sleeping soundly.

At times God gives us a restless spirit so that He can impress upon us a message. How often do we have a sleepless night and just watch TV or browse the internet mindlessly?

These are perfect times to ask, “ What would you have of me Lord?”, and open up the Bible to search for an answer. If this is of God, the Spirit will lead us to the right message.

Do not take every sleepless night as simple insomnia. It just may be a restless spirit God has given us to search His truth and find His message.
