A Hedge

9 Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Haven’t you placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. (Job 1:9-10 CSB)

I often pray for the Lord to put a hedge of protection around my loved ones or friends.

The idea of being surrounded on all sides with a hedge like this is comforting to me. That God would, and does, protect us from some things by doing so as He had done with Job in our scripture.

But we know that Job went on to suffer much. But once through that suffering he was blessed ten fold.

Because of this scripture and the imagery it represents to me I still pray it fervently for those I care for, or often for those in need.

The Lord can set up protection on every side. But even if difficult times were to make it through our hedge, the Lord is waiting with open arms to comfort us.

Pray for you or another’s hedge today.
