Sacrifice & Love

5 But he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities;
punishment for our peace was on him,
and we are healed by his wounds. (Isaiah 53:5 CSB)

It is impossible to comprehend just how much suffering Christ took on the cross. He not only bore the physical pain, but he took on all of our iniquity in his death. Then he overcame all of those sins, now and forever, in the resurrection.

For this alone we should contemplate our sinfulness even more. Knowing that even thousands of years later, He took on all of the sin we have or will commit.

This reminder should be sobering and give us cause to examine our lives and our actions.

As each new day dawns we should be praying that God will give us the strength to overcome our sinful ways. Each evening thanking him for another 24 hours of grace.

We do not know what tomorrow will bring, thus, we need to live each day conscious of our Savior’s sacrifice and His love.
