Practice what we Preach

15 For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate. (Romans 7:15 CSB)

“The devil made me do it.”

Yea, maybe, but probably not. While the enemy definitely creates opportunity and does wish to lead us astray, we are plenty capable of doing so ourselves.

We find ourselves doing or being a certain way that we do not wish. We find that our repeated behavior….is….well, repeated. How we react becomes habit.

The mind conceives it and then we act upon it.

Before long we are running on autopilot and doing exactly what we do not want to do. We are living contrary to God’s plan and His desire for our lives.

That’s when we have to reel it in and the longer we allow our bad actions to become ingrained habits the harder that is to do.

Better a little discomfort now than a lot later on.

We must learn to practice what we preach.
