Short-sighted

13 These all died in faith, although they had not received the things that were promised. But they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed that they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth. 14 Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. (Hebrews 11:13-14 CSB)

We are temporary residents on this earth.

We all know it, but we typically do not want to think about it too much. But there is really only one way out. For those that believe and have faith this is not the end.

However, we live as if this were the end.

We focus the majority of our attention on what is happening right this very moment. We do not live with an eternal mindset. As such we miss many possible blessings because we are short-sighted.

When we take the long view, the one that has us ever seeking a new homeland, we see the here and now differently. We realize that this momentary pain is not our destiny.
