19 Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

When we turn aside from a feeling that is leading us to pray for another, or reach out in some way we are quenching the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was given to us as a helper and guide. The Spirit provides insight into the world around us. He prompts us when others are in need and intercedes for us when we are in need.

While today’s scripture is focused upon the Holy Spirit, we too should not quench other’s spirits. We have another opportunity upon the earth and that is to build each other up. To support one another and help those around us grow.

In this we have a unique capability to lift the spirits of others and in doing so we make them and the world a better place.
