11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God. (3 John 1:11 CSB)
One would not think we would need this scripture. I mean all scripture is worthy, but why would we need to be told to do what is good? Yet we seem unable to discern good from evil.
But for good to exist, so too evil must exist. And since the fall of man we have struggled with good and evil.
We were heirs to the Garden of Eden, but that was lost when we decided we needed to be on par with God. How arrogant we are! At times I believe that we, the human race, are the true pestulance on the earth.
Thus, our responsibility is to do what is good. And if we have a question if something is good or evil, we have scripture to guide us. Yes, good should be self-evident. But we have proven time and time again that we cannot discern.
