17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith,[a] just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:17 CSB)

There are three commonly accepted ways to look at this scripture, and specifically Paul’s comment “God is revealed from faith to faith.”

One is from the beginning of faith, which is God’s to our acceptance of faith.

The second is to see it as faith that goes from one believer to the next.

The third is in degrees, as our faith grows and we mature as believers.

No matter which way you interpret this piece of scripture, the message is clear; No matter how faith grows, it is in the righteousness of God that it is revealed.

Meaning that faith starts and ends with God, and namely in Christ. As we know there is nothing we can do to “earn” salvation. It is freely given, through Christ death and our belief. Thus, Christ righteousness is revealed in us from faith to faith.
