A Good Return

10 For just as rain and snow fall from heaven
and do not return there
without saturating the earth
and making it germinate and sprout,
and providing seed to sow
and food to eat,
11 so my word that comes from my mouth
will not return to me empty,
but it will accomplish what I please
and will prosper in what I send it to do.” (Isaiah 55:10-11 CSB)

We are always looking for a good return. Whether it be financially with what we choose to invest in, when we invest in ourselves or others or in our business dealings. Without a good return we will not typically continue throwing good money after bad, or investing our valuable time.

So too, God expects a good return. He is looking to us to continue to spread the Good News and to see others come to acceptance of Christ.

God, however, never walks away from his investment. Even when His investment in us does not produce the fruit he had planned for our lives, he is true. He does not pull His loving hand away from us because we are not using the talents he gave us to prosper others and the Kingdom.

This should make us want to prove more and more that God’s investment in us is not in vain. It should drive us to do ever more for His glory.
