4 Therefore, since Christ suffered[a] in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same understanding[b]—because the one who suffers in the flesh is finished with sin[c]— 2 in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will. (1 Peter 4:1-2 CSB)
The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
The flesh is what gets us into trouble. Our old sinful ways will continue to plague us until we are taken home to be with Christ. Thus, we must work diligently to overcome the flesh and focus fully upon the Spirit.
In doing so, we put away human desires and we keep our eyes upon God’s will.
This is no easy task, as the world wants nothing mor than for us to succumb to the wants and desires of the flesh.
It is only through a daily infusion of The Word and prayer that we overcome the flesh.
