17 If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer[a] in need but withholds compassion from him—how does God’s love reside in him? (1 John 3:17 CSB)

If you are very lucky you will live your life an never have to worry about need. You will be able to always make your bills, fill your belly, have a roof over your head and possibly even live well.

But if not, you know the keen ache of not being able to fulfill one of these very basic needs. At a bare minimum you will come in contact with others who are struggling in life.

What are we to do, simply turn aside and walk away or reach out a helping hand? Love requires that we help others, especially when we are blessed with much.

The transition between much and little is far shorter than most realize.
