What happens when something has “taken hold” of us?

Well, it tends to consume us doesn’t it. So many things in this world seek to take hold of our attention so that we might focus on that which is temporary and temporal and not something that is spiritual and eternal.

So many have been taken hold of by work or by being overly busy. In either case there is little room for anything else. We are consumed by that which we believe will make us better or make life better. All of it tends to fall short.

We struggle through life taken hold of by this thing and that and we forget that which we should take hold of most – Jesus Christ.
