Your Life

5 But as for you, do you pursue great things for yourself? Stop pursuing! For I am about to bring disaster on everyone”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“but I will grant you your life like the spoils of war wherever you go.”’” (James 45:5 CSB)

We are taught from an early age that we must strive for great things. That success comes to those who pursue goals and achieve much. None of these things in themself are bad advice necessarily.

But all this too will pass. Whether it be at God’s coming or when we are done with this life and move on to eternity.

Thus, are we seeking to make a mark on this world for ourselves or make a mark on others through how we live our lives?

God grants us our lives and really only that. It is important what we do with our lives, what we do that leaves others better in the end. It is better to be remembered as kinda and compassionate than as a successful businessman. To build our significance over our success.
