Dependence upon Independence

23 The Lord answered Moses, “Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.” (Numbers 11:22 CSB)

Is the Lord’s arm too short?

I think often we believe that it is. We make our way in life fully dependent upon ourselves not leaving room for God to work. Is this because we believe that he is incapable of doing all that we need? Or is it a dependence upon independence?

Independence is valued above almost all else in the world today. We strive to make our way fully upon our own and only reach out when things are truly bleak.

Where in this independence is space for God to work? Where do we leave open the door for His good works on our behalf. This is not to say that we do not need to keep in motion and to be motivated. It is to say that when we only chase our own desires and our own plans, God leaves our ability to exercise free will open to us.

In this we may never see the richness of what God truly has in store for us.

Is the Lord’s are too short?
