Keep me From

13 …keep your servant from willful sins;
do not let them rule me.
Then I will be blameless
and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:13-14 CSB)

Working to keep a scripture like this continually before you has many benefits.

It is a reminder that we need to be kept from willful sins. That some sin tends to rule over us and keep us from our best for God. That it is only God who can cleanse us from this blatant rebellion. Without him we will only wallow in our sin.

Then it teaches us that we need to speak and think continually on acceptable things. That keeping our words in line with our faith, keeping our mind on higher things and not the things of this earth.

Lastly, it ends with one of my favorites lines, “Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Continually keeping before me that the Lord is my rock and the source of my redemption. Without Him nothing is possible.
