A New Gig

19 “Follow me,” he told them, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Andrew and Simon, who was called Peter, were fishermen. But when Christ came along he offered them a new gig.

When we come to faith we all get this gig. Our old jobs take on a new meaning. They are a means to an end. Much like Paul continued to build tents to supplement funding of his ministry, we are to use our talents to create treasure but to alter the use of our time.

Alter the use of our time so that we too become fishers of men. Yes, we must make a living (unless we are called to make a living in ministry) but what we are doing should always point to Christ. In how we do our jobs, how people perceive us in the work place and beyond.

We too are fishers of men.
