54 Water flooded over my head,
and I thought, “I’m going to die!”
55 I called on your name, Lord,
from the depths of the pit.
56 You heard my plea:
Do not ignore my cry for relief.
57 You came near whenever I called you;
you said, “Do not be afraid.” (Lamentations 3:54-57 CSB)
Life can often feel like we are drowning. The floods of responsibility flow over our heads and we feel as though we are only treading the waters of life.
I write about these things often as I and many others feel this way frequently. It is a reoccurring theme in my discussions with others. They are overwrought and stressed and often very anxious about life in general.
We are floundering in the flood of life.
But there is hope. When we cry out our God does not ignore us. He lifts us up from the depths of our pit. He comes near and tells us “Do not be afraid”, and we can feel the relief of a Father near us, holding us above the flood.
Do not let the anxiety of life defeat you. Cry out.
