71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I could learn your statutes. (Psalm 119:71 CSB)
Rarely do we see affliction as a good thing. But sometimes we need it to learn a lesson.
Scriptural teaching can be hard to follow. We may need divine lessons before the statutes contained within are written on our souls.
The same is true with life. Some lessons are only learned through pain.
Pain retains.
Whether it is true physical pain, mental anguish, or some other angst we are creatures who learn more lessons from negative input than positive. This is the sad state of our humanness.
But lasting change only comes by replacing bad with good. Thus we should stride to learn from scripture and God’s correction and move on in His good light.
