19 God is not a man, that he might lie,
or a son of man, that he might change his mind.
Does he speak and not act,

I grew up with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. I was taught from a very young age to be a “man of my word”. I have since taught my children the same thing.

I grew up in a time where the phrase “a man’s word is his bond” really meant something.

That hasn’t been easy. There have been many times where I wanted to walk away, change my mind, not do what I said. But I have striven to uphold my word.

Today it seems that all we hear is promises and lies. The world is a place where there is this perpetual feeling that we need to hedge our bet against what we have been told.

God does not work that way. Every promise in scripture he fulfills. Maybe not in our timing or to our ultimate desire, but to His plan.
