This is an oft used term that is, on the surface, pretty self-evident.

However, if we look beyond the obvious meaning we can see that the underlying thought was this; we cannot expect to be different if we continually do the same thing. We cannot change who we are without changing who we are following.

The key word in the verse is “guide”. If we are not choosing a positive guide in our lives then we are being lead by the blind. We are falling into the same pits they fall into.

When we choose a life of faith we chose a new path and we are given a new guide. One who will never leave nor fail us.
