No, this scripture is not about fitness. It is about fairness.
A common practice through the years where things are sold by weight is to keep two weights. One that reads correctly and one that looks the same but reads in the favor of the merchant. Electronically, this can be a scale that is calibrated to favor the merchant. By giving less by weight they make more, cheating the consumer.
We expect a level of fairness in this world that does not necessarily exist. We must be ever vigil, keeping our eyes open to what we are being sold. Be that a product or a concept.
The one thing we can count on is that God’s Word and how he reacts to us will always be fair. It may be a hard message, but he works in our best interest. Even when life does not feel fair.
