9 Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” (Mark 4:9 NIV)

The old saying goes, “We have two ears and one mouth. Thus, we should listen twice as much as we speak.” But not just listen, truly hear. There has been volumes written about active listening. But more simply than this, we have two ears to hear but we must listen with our heart.

Many times what is being imparted is not supposed to go from our ears to our brain, but from our ears to our heart and soul.

By listening that deeply we hear the groaning of others souls, and we are more equipped to be there for others. Furthermore, we hear from God through the Spirit in our soul. We are given understanding of scripture and guidance from God.
