Comfort

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction,[a] so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (1 Corinthians 1:3-4 CSB)

There are many places we look for comfort. Some are good sources like family and friends. Others are not so good sources like pleasure or substances that simply mask our pain for a time.

We cannot truly know each other’s pain. But the Spirt that is sent to be our helper and guide, He does know our pain. He knows it intimately. And He wants nothing more than for us to turn to him when we go through distressing times.

God is the comfortor who is every vigilant to be there with us through our difficulties and to celebrate with us when situations turn around.
