16 “Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16 CSB)

We operate in a world of sheep, wolves and sheep dogs. Whether you like it or not you fit into one of these categories. In our Christian walk we must be shrewd but innocent, this is the best state in which to operate. It is scriptural.

But what of the sheep dogs? What of those who stand in the gap when the wolves come to pray upon the sheep.

To these an extra measure of grace is needed to know when to act and when to hold back. When to press forward into the wolves and when to hold back as a shield for the sheep.

While this holds true in every walk of life, I think today of our military and those in the police and other civil service roles who walk daily into the breach.

My heart is with the sheep dogs.
