19 “Don’t store up for yourselves treasures[a] on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. (Matthew 6:19 CSB)
We all tend to be in this constant battle between what we need, what we want and how we save for the future. It can often lead to feelings of desperation. Feelings of not having enough, not being enough.
This is what happens when we focus upon our treasure on earth. When we shift that focus to our treasure in heaven suddenly things seem to fall into place.
I grew up with the mantra; Pay God, Pay Yourself, Pay Others. That may seem backward to many as we tend to try to make our payments before we think about ourselves or God. But when you look at your treasure (time, money or talents) in this way, you find that God is hard to out-give.
No its not easy when the money or time seems short. But earthly treasures never outlive heavenly treasures.
