Power Outage

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12 NKJV)

Have you ever woken up and as soon as you open your eyes something is just off. It takes your brain a few moments to orient and recognize just what it could be. This morning it was the power being off in my home…well, on a very large block of the area I live in. Waking to absolute darkness and an absence of sound is disorienting. Furthermore, laying there a minute after it registered what was happening, I realized just how much light and sound is around us even when we sleep.

I took a few minutes extra this morning in the darkness and silence to just contemplate life without power. While it would create complete havoc, there is a peace and simpleness that comes to mind. Knowing that God will ultimately be there for me and my family whether there is power or not was comforting. Knowing that in Him I have the Light of Life and I do not have to walk in existential darkness whether the power is on or not.

Reflect on: The true power in your life and the faith you put there.
