20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV)
There are certain verses in scripture, like today’s, that require meditation and study. When we first read them they may not completely make sense. They require rereading and maybe a bit of additional commentary to truly hit home. The first time I read this scripture I had that reaction. I understood its meaning on the surface, but there was far more to glean from this simple passage.
”For all the promises of God in Him are Yes.” Every promise in scripture is fulfilled in Christ. The cumulation of scripture all point to Christ and every aspect of our faith comes to fruition in Christ. Through Him all prophesy was fulfilled and only through Him can we hope to see our heavenly reward.
”In Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” Everything we are in our faith life is in Christ and all of it is to the glory of God through us. This is why our every thought needs to be captive and our every action filtered through Christ. For it is in us that the fulfillment of scripture is shown to the world.
Reflect on: Your understanding of every Yes and every Amen.
Every Yes and Every Amen
