Even The Ungrateful and Evil

35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend,[a]hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. (Luke 6:35 NKJV)

..For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil. (CSB)

..because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. (NIV)

..for he is kind to evil men, and to those who have hard hearts. (BBE)

This scripture out of Luke is unique, but shows us just how loving and forgiving our God is. That even when we are unthankful, ungrateful, evil, wicked and have hard hearts He extends His love to us like a caring Father. We are His sons and He will never leave nor forsake us and I for one am most grateful for this.

But He too calls on us to love our enemies, do good, lend hoping for nothing in return and our reward will be great. This can be hard for us to do in our human state. We want return for our efforts, but God tells us to seek to give and love others who may never give nor love us in return. This is the difference in our faith and religion, what sets Christianity and Christians apart from others.

Too often we do not see this though in those Christians we know. We see only the world in them. We must strive to not be this way.

Reflect on: How much your Father in Heaven loves you and what you must do in return.
