¹⁷ And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:17 ESV)

Consider everything you have, everyone you hold dear, every ambition or desire is passing away. In fact, everything in this life is fleeting. It is here one day and gone the next. Thus, the legacy we leave is how we have lived our lives and impacted others. We take nothing with us, and only have what we have done for God that carries on.

The will of God abides forever our scripture tells us. Thus, we can expect that when we do the will of God we are doing something that has a lasting value both on earth and in heaven. Each of these things hold heavenly rewards, but the real reward is doing God’s will. There is no waste in this and it can have a far reaching impact that we may not know this side of heaven. We can only know we are doing His will and living our lives for Him.
