Without the Tree

13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:13 ESV)

There is no situation where it is ok to be unfaithful to God. However, when we fail and fall into sin, God remains faithful to us.

He remains faithful no matter what. This statement is hard for some people to grasp because they still believe that they have something to do with their relationship with God. The truth is that the only thing we have to do with that relationship is the outpouring of thankfulness and the following of scripture. Nothing we do makes us right with God. It is only Christ sacrifice that does this. This is why fruitfulness is spoken about so much in scripture. Without the tree the fruit cannot grow.

We try to put ourselves and our righteousness into the equation. We are as dirty rags. We need to rely upon God for absolutely everything and attribute everything to Him. This is the beginning of understanding of scripture and our faith life.

Reflect on: Your relationship with God, and without Him there is no faith, no fruit.
