Much is Happening

2 O Lord, how long shall I cry for help,
    and you will not hear?
Or cry to you “Violence!”
    and you will not save?
Why do you make me see iniquity,
    and why do you idly look at wrong?
Destruction and violence are before me;
    strife and contention arise.
So the law is paralyzed,
    and justice never goes forth.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
    so justice goes forth perverted. (Habakkuk 1:2-5 ESV)

Much we see happening today can distress us. The news is rife with disheartening reports and we are witness to societal decline in many forms. However, the faithful have hope for joy and peace. We cannot allow what is happening around us to lose focus upon the One who is in control in ways we cannot perceive and cannot know.

The believer can hope beyond hope and rely completely upon God to work things in His good plan. Even when we do not understand, we can rest assured that God has it all well in hand.

Remember, this world is falling away and a new one is coming. We simply need to be patient and wait upon the Lord.

Reflect on: What is happening around us and take comfort in the fact that the Lord has it in hand.
