36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed (distressed) and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36 NIV)
When we feel distress God is there for us to turn to. As the Good Shepard, He is there to guide the flock and to be their provider. When the world seems to be closing in on us we need to turn to God as our strength and provision.
This is not always easy. The enemy sends every distressful thought our way and makes it nearly impossible to see the dawn from the darkness. But God is the light to our path and the guide to our feet.
To get back up we first need to rise to our knees.
