46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

I cannot say how many times I uttered the word “Listen!” sternly to my children. I an only imagine how often God has done so to my deaf ears and sodden mind.

Active listening is a trait that I have had to cultivate. Meditation upon scripture is one that I still have not yet grasp. I read. I hear the Lord’s call, but I do not do what he says.

What a wretched man I am!
