Stabilizing Silence

1 For God alone my soul waits in silence;
    from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Psalm 62:1-2 ESV)

Do you ever find yourself at a time where you just need to hit pause. You need a few moments of silence in your busy day to collect your thoughts. I do. Frequently! And what better way to spend some of these moments but in silent prayer, asking God to help you collect yourself.

Remembering too that God provides a level of stability in our lives helps when the world around us is shaking. No, everything may not be going right. In fact it may be in shambles. But with God, and godly friends, we have the ability to set our feet against the storm and weather whatever may come our way.

These moments, where our soul may wait in silence can seem long. But make no mistake, God is making a way. He is preparing a path. We need to be asking what we are meant to learn during these times and take these silent moments to meditate upon God’s lessons and his sovereignty.

We need to use this time as a stabilizing silence that drowns out all of the clamor in our lives.
