18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might (Ephesians 1:18-19 ESV)
As most of us begin both a new week and a New Year in our work lives today, let us take a moment and remember what we are called to. Not our career calling, but who we are representing each and every day, His immeasurable greatness and power in which we should be doing our work.
But maybe you are not starting back today. Maybe you are a teacher who has a few more days before you begin back. Or you are retired or you are a spouse who does not work. Each of us has a part to play in God’s Kingdom and a role to fulfill here on earth. Stand strong in what God has given you to do.
Regardless, we can walk into this day as one who believes, working in His great might. We are not left to fend for ourselves. God goes before us and helps us each day. And to those of my friends who are out of work, I pray for your strength during this time. Pray today as if your next place in life is set, thanking God for his direction and insight.
And if this New Year may not be starting exactly like you want, know that God is with you no matter what. God has your back and will provide a way, I believe this sincerely. If you are blessed today, bless someone else with your presence and your attention. People want nothing more than to be seen and heard. Be there for each other as God is there for you.
