Rejoice Always

16 Rejoice always (1 Thessalonians 5:16 ESV)

This is scripture is in the running for the shortest in the Bible. “Jesus wept”, is the shortest, but both are heavyweights when it comes to content.

Fitting for this Thanksgiving morning, the day we are given to give thanks for all things. But this need not be a once a year time to rejoice in all that God has given us. We should be taking time out each day to show our thanksgiving to God for all He has, is and will do in our lives.

As noted, even Jesus wept, so life will not be without times of sadness or pain. But what we are called to is to keep joy in our hearts as much and as often as we can. Doing so will lead to a much happier life in general, and doesn’t that sound better than walking through life in a constant negative state.

Thus, rejoice always and make life something to be looked forward to.
