30 He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30 CSB)
There is very little in this world that will suggest that you decrease. No, in fact everything is about me, me, me. It is about making ourselves more and being the best, most successful person we can be. And there is nothing wrong with being ambitious or successful. But we were meant to be a beacon that shines a light upon Christ and not ourselves.
There is much, even a whole lifetime we have to do the things we want to do. However, we need to check regularly to make sure that we are not building that life around just us or our family or our success. We must check to make sure that everything is not about us.
When Christ comes into one’s life, He must increase which means we must decrease. Life is no longer just about us, we begin to recognize that we were made for much more. There should be a burning desire to serve and spread the love of Christ. This may manifest itself in many ways. For me it is in writing, but I also preach and teach from time to time. I am called upon to do other things as well and God puts divine appointments in my path at times. God rarely calls us to do a single thing. He has much to do with a life committed to service.
But we must be willing to be less of who we are for this to happen, it is then when we realize less is more.
