Thank You

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:24)

Yesterday I wrote about being thankful in difficulty. I know that can be a tall order. Asking you to be thankful in difficult times. But why should it be any different than thankful in good times? Do we not trust God with the good and the bad?

More often than not, this is the case. We do not fully trust in the bad times. Oh, we want to but human weakness gets in the way. So, I am going to give you a way to allow you to be more mindful of this level of trust and thankfulness.

When we pray, we often just go through a list of our needs and desires, our prayers tend toward petitions for God to act on our behalf. But what if we flip that script? Our scripture today tells us to believe that we have received and it will be ours. Thus, changing our prays to thanksgiving to God for answering all we would normally pray for His deliverance or intervention from. This simple change to, “God thank you for…” changes our mindset. It says we trust Him to intercede. It also lightens our heart in the hope for change and a positive acceptance.

You may ask how we pray thanksgiving for negative things? Maybe it is just thanking Him for being with us during the difficulty and thanking Him for the outcome He has planned for us. Accepting God’s plan and trusting He will work the situation out to fulfill His will and simply being ok with that. This level of acceptance and thanksgiving takes some work, but it will truly change your attitude and lift your spirits.
